Gather round all you Terrans, Zerg, and Protoss! The Heart of the Swarm expansion pack is going into live beta RIGHT NOW! Blizzard announced it a few hours ago on the StarCraft II blog.
The beta program is for multi-player sections only and will start with only a small subset of players – namely those on Blizzard’s beta list, like professional gamers, trusted players, and contest winners. But you can hold out hope that they’ll open it to more people in the coming days or weeks, just make sure you sign up for the opt-in pool. Blizzard recommends you play more StarCraft II online to increase your chances of being picked for the beta testing. The best news is that the testers are not under an NDA, so they can post their screenshots, videocaps, and any other opinions. We’ll keep an eye our for any of the good ones to let you know more about the upcoming full release.
Heart of the Swarm is the second expansion pack in the planned trilogy (preceded by Wings of Liberty and preceding Legacy of the Void). The pack will have about 20 new missions that you perform from the perspective of Sarah Kerrigan with a focus on the eradication of the Zerg.
