There are two missions in the game, where you will have to face a Stealthed enemy plane. Logically, you will only be able to destroy them with your gun. However, if you manage to keep the enemy in the center of your crosshair for a long enough time, you will get a lock on them. This is when you get the chance to hit them with a missile. You must act quickly, though, because the lock will only last for a short time. Because of this, it is advisable to keep your strongest missiles armed, so you don't have to change it and lose time.
In some missions, such as the last one, a plane which supports Stealth Mode is vital for your success. If you are having trouble with a mission because you get killed, a Stealth plane will almost surely change that. During Stealth mode, a missile will hardly ever hit you, which leaves you open to gunfire only. The easiest way to determine whether a plane supports the Stealth ability is to read its description in the Plane selection menu. However, some descriptions don't say it, while the plane really has the function. I advise you to have some favorite planes, and remember which of them are Stealth.
Do not rely on bombs to destroy ground or naval targets. They are harder to aim and slower in speed than the ground missiles, such as GAM, SDAM, etc.
Avoid using the AAAM type of missile for close range combat against fighters. It usually misses the target.
After you have selected your plane for the mission, you will be asked to choose a weapon pack. Every single weapon pack includes an "all- purpose" missile type, such as SRAM or SSAM. These are colored in purple. Ground missiles are colored in yellow, bombs - in green, air-air missiles are colored in gray, and torpedoes are light blue. After the name of the weapon, you see the number of missiles the plane can have loaded at the same time. Choose your weapon pack wisely, depending on the Mission targets, which are visible of you press and hold Square. If non of the weapon packs satisfies you, you may return to the previous menu and choose another plane, since every plane supports a different set of weapon packs.
To unlock the SR-71 Blackbird (AKA Top Secret Plane), you must successfully complete the Pilot Bonus Objectives for the final mission (mission 4-5 - The Final Countdown). To get the fourth weapon pack for the plane, you must complete the Ace Bonus Objective. The weapon pack includes nuclear cruise missiles and the A-SLAMR.
To unlock the F-35 lightning V2 all you have to do is beat the level Sunburn Alley (Kamcha) on Pilot difficulty
