CheatCodes.com has all the official Ico PS2 cheats to unlock everything. If you know of any that we don't have, please let us know.
All published and official codes as of Saturday May 25, 2013 for Ico are shown below.
If you enter a room, and it is a clear run to the portal on the other side, take Yorda by the hand and run her to the portal with the black Smoke Creatures chasing you. As you approach the portal, Yorda's activation of the portal will create lightning which will destroy the creatures anywhere near you.
When in the last level with Ico's horns cut off on the beach, go towards the left following the shore of the beach to find Yorda.
To avoid losing Yorda, as soon as you set her free press R1 and hold her hand, then run to the door . You should also pick up the stick that falls so you can defeat the Shadow Creatures easily.
Ico can share a watermelon with Yorda at the very end of the game. Note: This was done on the second time through the PAL version of the game. Take Yorda one of the watermelons sitting in the sand dunes. They are also very satisfying to smash.
When turning big wheels, as when shutting off the water, turn from the farthest point to go faster.
Successfully complete the game once, then start another game. Follow the steps to where you got the Mace in the first time, and this time you will get a lightsaber that kills Smoke Creatures in one hit .You must be holding Yorda's hand to activate it.
An extra puzzle has been added in the room that leads to the top of the waterfall garden in the PAL version of the game. Whereas before you could shimmy around the room on bars, now you can only reach a switch. Pull this to start a giant wooden piston in the room. To get to the window, stand on the piston and press Jump just as it begins to sink to the lowest point. You should be catapulted up to a ledge. Just climb up to the window.
Successfully complete the game and wait for the credits to end. Once you regain control of Ico, look for Yorda near the seashore. A save prompt will appear after the final ending. Save the game and restart to have Yorda playable using controller two and new music.
Upon completion of the game, not only do you get to control Yorda and have different music, but her subtitles are now in English rather than in hieroglyphics.
To pass the stage faster, avoid running into black ghosts.
After you beat the queen, wait until after the credits roll. Another cut scene will play, then you will take control of Ico on the beach. Move far down the coast to the left and you will find a surprise!
When fighting the queen, the energy sword is paramount. Whenever you are holding it, her shadow attacks cannot touch you. If you take a hit without it, however, you will turn to ash. The way to beat the queen is to hack at her shield with the sword. Once you hit it, the sword will fly from your hand and you'll have to retrieve it. Immediately after hitting the shield, run behind one of two statues at the center of the room. The shadow attack will pass you by. From this position of safety, scan the room for your discarded sword. The first time it is rejected, it will end up in the right side of the room. The next three times, you will find it on the left side of the room. After four hits, the queen's shield will drop. This time, your sword ends up well behind the statue. Hide behind the right statue. As the shadow passes, you will notice a safe zone on the ground-- a kind of oval. Get as far back in the safe zone as possible. As soon as the shadow wave passes, head straight back from the statue and run to the sword. You'll grab it just as her next wave reaches you. With the sword in hand, stride to the front of the room and strike the final blow.
The mace is not necessary to complete the game, but defeats shadow spectres with 3 hits, making it the weapon of choice! When you reach the "Upper Courtyard", you'll have to make your way through the building along the pipes, out the window and push the box to the edge of the water so that you can jump over. Once you do what you have to do (no spoilers) and return to the area, you will have to pull a switch near the staircase to open the door. Right near the switch is a tree. Swipe at the tree a few times with your weapon. A ball will fall out. Take the ball up the stairs, and look to your left. Located between the two stairways you will see the middle is slightly a different shade of brick. Drop the ball and push on this middle area. The wall will revolve and you will enter a secret room. Have Yorda and Ico stand on the raised pedestal. A stone basket will pop up. Take the ball to the left or right of the basket and try to throw it in the basket. Standing near the wall helps. Once you get the ball into the basket, a mace will fly through the window.
