Sony's exclusive first-person shooter series heads to the Vita for the first time as players take control of the contract soldier Arran Danner in Killzone: Mercenary. As a hired gun, Danner will take on assignments from both the ISA and the Helghast, earning Vektan dollars in the nine-mission single-player campaign and taking on three special contracts that unlock after the completion of each level. Gamers can customize their weapons and gear before every mission, and they can earn extra money by taking on the more challenging of the three included difficulty levels. Money earned in the single-player campaign can also be spent to upgrade gear in Mercenary's three multiplayer modes. Up to eight players can join in on the action, battling across six different maps in the free-for-all Mercenary Warfare mode, the Guerilla Warfare team deathmatch mode, and the team-based, five-mission Warzone mode. Fallen enemies in all multiplayer modes drop Valour Cards, which gamers can collect to form traditional playing card hands and earn large sums of cash.
