When you are playing in two player "Battle Mode", the single lines aren't worth as much as any other multiple lines, unless you make a single line as part of a combo of lines (Where you remove a line twice in a row or more). You can win more easily on single-player battle mode by concentrate fully on going for quadruple lines. Even if your stack gets a little high at times while you're waiting for the long and thin piece, it's worth it to send massive amounts of grey lines into your opponent's stack.
