The Getaway is the most ambitious project in video game history, and will set new standards in entertainment. The objective is to deliver an ultra-realistic experience that blurs the line between cinema and games - a true filmic crossover.
The Getaway is an Action/Adventure video game for PlayStation 2 developed by Soho Studios and published by Sony Computer Entertainment America on January 22, 2003. It's rated Mature by the ESRB and 66 of our users have voted it 3.7 out of 5 stars.
Our newest cheats for The Getaway were added October 8, 2004.

As per "Playstation Magazine" "begin your search on the Westminster Bridge, facing the Houses Of Parliament. Gaze at the marvel of Gothic architecture (the pointy building with the big clock), then head west. Drive past Big Ben, and when you reach the first intersection, hang a left. When you get to the roundabout, turn right. Follow the long stretch of blue boards on the right side of the street until you reach a gap with a pile of cardboard boxes in it. Boldly drive through the boxes!" Now for my original contribution: once you get into the gap turn right into the hole and follow the path down to the abandoned car park. On the right side of the car park is the Ferrari (blue with white stripes). And on the left side of the car park is the Peugeot. (Note:the Peugeot is hidden behind the huge crate).
(Be sure to unlock free roaming mode before trying to find this car). 1st of all, look for a green clock tower. (It should be in front of a hut). Then, take the road on the right. (NOT THE ROAD ON THE LEFT!!!!) Drive a short distance and you will see a light brown fence. Eventually you will see a break in the fence, your new Ferrari is inside.
If you have a fast car, look for a sort of statue in the Chinatown Soho area. It is small and in the middle of a sidewalk next to a one way road and has some steps around it. Gain some speed and hit the steps at an angle without hitting the statue itself. Your car should flip through the air.
Shoot tires out on any car. If you drive hard enough on the tires, they will fall off and you will be riding on rims with flying sparks.
When walking around in free roam mode, stop a car and shoot the hood. After a few seconds it will catch fire and the person in it will run out screaming in flames. When the fire dies out, you can get in the burnt car and drive. Since the fire destroys the tires, sparks will appear when you move.
Shoot a gas tank when an enemy is nearby to easily kill them by burning.
If you have a gun, are close enough to somebody, and press Square to shoot at them, your character may whip them with the gun instead. Other people such as gang members or cops also do this to you.
Use this trick with inaccurate weapons at a longer such, as the AK. Instead of auto-aiming for an enemy. use manual aim. Manual is perfectly accurate. Use this technique when shooting an enemy at medium range, or when an enemy is hiding behind an object.
Shoot hostage: With a gun, press X to get a hostage, then press Square. Break hostage's neck: While unarmed, press X to get a hostage, then press Square.
Walk down the sidewalk and listen carefully. You can sometimes hear people saying "Its that guy, Mark Hammond!" or "Its the guy who killed his wife!". If you are in a shootout with the police, you can sometimes hear them say "Stop this now Hammond!"
There are two versions of the game. The new version is edited for content and is missing the Snowhill level from the original release. If you try to use a memory card with saved information from the original version and try to load it with the new version, the game will crash repeatedly.
Go forward, take the first left, and go to the end of that street. Then, take another left and drive until you see the forest part of town. Take the first left then your first right. Drive forward and there will be a turn. However, on the wall there is a gate. Go inside and follow the road. You will find a Nissan Skilyne (white), TVR Cerebra (bluish purple), Lotus Elise (white), and Go-Cart (blue). Note: When you go to driveway take a right turn when you see the Nissan. There will be a wall with an opening. The Lotus and Go- Cart are inside.
A way of getting past all the gang members on deck is to go to the steps. Do not go up them. To the left, you will see a tall crane. Attached to the crane is a platform of tanks (oil drums). Go around the back of them and you will see a gap you can get into. Once you are in it, an intermission sequence will start. You will be lifted past all of the gang members. By the time you are put down, they will mostly be dead. The crane will drop you where you need to be. Go up the little steps to get into the ship.
Make a full 180 degree turn, then go straight. Take the first left at the fork. Go straight and make a right turn at the four way intersection. Drive straight, but keep to the left. You will eventually see a large empty space with a strange gate with bars on it. Take a left turn at the gate, then right, then stay to the left. There will there will be a hole in the wall. Enter the hole to find the mansion.
Steal the old 60's looking sedan or coupe and drive to the stairway at the reddish-brown building at St. Pancreas Station. Drive off the top of the staircase at full speed. When you hit the ground, your car will bounce back up into the air about 20 feet. This should work in any part of the game that has the little medians with the small green, yellow, and white barrels on them. Get a car and accelerate using the Right Analog-stick instead of X. This allows you to accelerate faster. Hit those medians dead center and watch the car lift about 20 feet in the air, then hit the ground and bounce back up again. Also, on some streets you will see a tow truck parked on the side of the road with a ramp-like flatbed on the back. Try going up it very fast in certain cars. It may make it up the ramp. Other cars will just crash into the back of the flatbed Note: You have to hit it more to the right side of the ramp.
Successfully complete the first twelve missions to unlock the "Credits" option at the extra features screen.
If you have been getting damaged badly by enemies and are close to dying, walk up next to a wall. Your character will lean up against it in order to recover. With each breath your character takes, part of his bullet holes disappear until he is fully recovered. This may take a minute -- make sure that no enemies are attacking you. If you are very badly, find a car and get into it. Drive around a little bit. Get out and your character should be feeling slightly better. If he is still hurting, drive around some more.
On certain cars you can get a small boost of acceleration. When you are stopped, hold the handbrake (R1) and hold X. Keep holding it until the car starts to move forward, even though you are still pressing the brake. Once it starts to move forward, release R1. The car should rocket forward. On some cars, the wheels will just keep spinning and your car will slowly accelerate. This works well with the station wagon and the Saab.
When driving in a police or a gang chase, when you see the police car rubbing your car on the side, immediately break. The car will go forward and slide. Then, continue on your mission. Although it will not help that much, you will still lose the car sometimes. You can also ram the police car when it swerves into a stop.
When attempting to catch a car on fire, aim the front with the pistol. Aim as low as you can while still hitting the car. It will smoke after about ten shots. After another few, the car will catch fire. Note: When using AK47, the car will sometimes jump a few feet in the air while erupting in flame.
Damage to your car will be repaired after an intermission sequence is triggered.
Obtain an MKII (the car you start with in free ride mode) and go very fast along the Hyde Park inner road. While speeding, hit one of the cement dividers in the middle of the road and your car should fly up in the air. This also works if you hit one of the poles in the dividers at high speed on some of the other roads. Go to the old appearing reddish-brown building at St. Pancreas Station (along Maryborle Road). You will see a type of loop or drop off circle in front of it. At the point where it turns back around is a staircase. Drive over the staircase. Drive up the sidewalk a few blocks, turn around, and drive back up the staircase at full speed. Your car will go flying through the air, and perhaps hit the other buildings if done fast enough.
When you are playing as Mark Hammond and are on the Boat Sol Vita, kill all the gang members on the deck and go around the back way. You will find a forklift on that side. Along the deck is a railing with a large cargo hole on the other side. Repeatedly jump and dive against the railing. It will catapult you onto the cargo hole. You will not be able to get off or over unless you restart the level.
Hit the barrier at the end of Wesminister Street and Buckingham Palace Road at the correct angle and you can get through and walk for miles. It is full of clouds, and you will suddenly reappear at another end of the game. It may take a lot of attempts to get through, as getting the correct angle can be quite difficult.
Just go over to a wall and Hammond will start to rest and regain health.
You can find some hidden vehicles in the parks of London, such as a sooty van (Little Suzuki van with grass in the back) and a very fun golf cart parked behind huts and bushes around the parks. Select Free Roam mode once it is unlocked and make your way onto Oxford Street from the start point. Head west past the marble arch and onto Bayswater Road (use the map supplied with the game for road names). Follow Bayswater Road westward as far as the game will allow you to go, then turn left at the blockade onto the Hyde Park Inner Road. The Hyde Park Inner Road U-bends back around to travel through the center of Hyde Park at this point. At the back of this U-bend is an open gate. Go through it, and parked outside a mansion is a Nissan Skyline GTR and a TVR. In the garage opposite the mansion is a Lotus and a go-cart. To get the Saab 9X concept car and a Triad Gang Car (souped-up Honda) in Free Roam mode, in the mission where Carter infiltrates Jolson's warehouse, go to Chinatown (located in Soho). Go down into the underground garage (the same car park where the Triads and Yardies have a gang war). The position of the cars varies on each floor. To find a Tank in Free Roam mode, travel east along Birdcage Walk (near Buckingham Palace). There are some open gates on your right about half way along (just after the big white building on the same side). There is a small one-man tank on a plinth just inside the gates. You can shoot from the turret by pressing L3 (horn). It catches cars and people on fire. To find a Lotus Esprit in Free Roam mode, drive west along Marylebone Road (above where it says Marylebone in red letters on the map). About half way along you will see a green dome on your right. Just after this is a small road on your right, which runs parallel to this road (it has Burger King and Vodafone shops on it). At the end of this small road is a subway entrance. Behind and to the right of this there is an alley next to the HSBC bank. The car is in this alley. Another Nissan Skyline can be found in an alley behind some boxes in Bermondsey Street, near the Tower Bridge. To find a Mk II (the car that you start in when you enter Free Roaming mode), can be found in the left hand side of a car park in St. Thomas Street, near the Tower Bridge. In the "Speakers Corner" of Hyde Park (the corner closest to the Marble Arch) a Golf Cart can be found behind some bushes in an open grassy area. In car park of the building nearby is a Royal Parks gardeners pickup van, with grass and plant cuttings in the back. To get a modified Peugeot 306, drive west along Horseferry Road (near the Lambeth Bridge). You will see a blue colored alley blocked off with some boxes on your right. Follow the alley and go down into the abandoned multi-story car park. At the bottom is a boy racer Peugeot 306 behind a large container. It has a bodykit, neon lights and a huge sound system in the back. To get a Ford Transit, find one of the jumps around the city (for example, St. James's Street, near Green Park). There are Ford Transit vans parked in front of them.
If you have been getting damaged badly by enemies and are close to dying, walk up next to a wall. Your character will lean up against it in order to recover. With each breath your character takes, part of his bullet holes disappear until he is fully recovered. This may take a minute -- make sure that no enemies are attacking you.
When you are escaping the Sol Vita and come down the stairs at the start, on the left hand side there is an explosion which brings down a staircase blocking your way through. However, first kill the men in front of you, then the man on the walkway above the wreckage. Then, instead of having to go through the package room, where you fight Harry for Hammond, go up to the wreckage. There will be a part where the floorway meets the hand rails. If you roll in the correct location, Carter will roll straight through the wreckage, avoiding the package room area and saving time and health.
Press R3 to skip some intermission sequences. Note: Not all sequences can be skipped.
In free roam mode, for added realism you can use your indicators (turn signals). Press L1 to indicate right and L2 to indicate left.
