Walkthrough ----------------------------------------------------------- The game begins at Nancy's desk. Click on the letter on top of the desk, in order to read it. The letter is from Cathedral, a top secret organization which has recently re- opened a case dealing with the death of Nancy's mother, Kate. They are willing to pay for Nancy to travel to Glasgow, in order to help with the case. After reading the letter, pick up the other items that came with it. When Nancy sees the picture of her mother, she has a flashback to when she was younger, and she overheard her mother getting a phone call from someone named Moira. As soon as Nancy arrives in Scotland, someone steals her suitcase. A man named Alec promises to help track down the thief and return Nancy's suitcase to her. Go forward and use Nancy's hotel room key on the door to get inside her room, Room #727. As soon as she enters, she gets a phone call from Ewan, her contact at Cathedral. He has left a case file in her room. Nancy will not be able to leave her room, until she reads the case file. In Nancy's room, there are several things to look at. There are flowers on a vase on the table, there is a window which overlooks a courtyard, there is a closet with a safe on top, and there is an electrical outlet to the right of the mirror. The thing you are interested in is the desk to the left of the bed. Open the drawer to find the case file that Ewan mentioned. The file says that, eight years ago, a terrorist group named Revenant tried to release a biological agent known as "the colony formula" on Glasgow. Kate Drew managed to stop them. As for Nancy's arrival in Glasgow, this is a complete surprise to Cathedral, who says they never contacted her. The letter Nancy received was from someone, pretending to be Cathedral. Why would someone lure Nancy to Glasgow under false pretenses? Perhaps it was someone from Revenant. Either way, Cathedral recommends that Nancy get it contact with one of their former agents, Moira Chisholm, who worked with Kate Drew while she was alive. Moira is currently working as a reporter. There are 21 pounds in the desk, so be sure to take them with you after reading the letter. Leave Nancy's hotel room, and you meet Bridget Shaw, a Scottish woman who says she has something important to tell you. Go down the hallway to the elevator (you can't visit any of the rooms here, besides Nancy's). In the elevator, press the "G" button to go to the ground floor. Leave the elevator, and Nancy exits the Glaucus Lodge. Here, you can go left to the convenience stand or right to the train station. Go left. Bridget is here, and you can talk to her. Ask her about Scotland, and she will leave to get a book about Scotland for you. The next time you return to this area, you can get the book from Bridget. Also here at the convenience stand, you can read a newspaper about the failed colony operation that happened eight years ago. You can also work at the convenience stand and get money in return for making cookies. Go to the train station. At the far end of the station, you can find Alec near the lockers and the door that leads to a trash compactor. Talk to him about whatever you want, then ask him to find Moira for you. He will leave. Not long after Alec goes to find Moira, you get a phone call from Revenant. They want you to take an envelope from Locker 49 and put it by the pub at Griffnock. If you do so, you will hear an audio clip of Nancy's mother. If you don't want to complete the instructions, simply leave the train station and return to find Alec there. If you do want to complete the instructions, go to Locker 49 and open it to find an envelope. Then, go to the ticket window. Left of the ticket window is a machine that lets you buy round trip tickets. Buy some tickets, then go through the Giffnock gate (at the back, to the left) to travel there. At Giffnock, zoom in on the mailbox and put the letter inside. Revenant calls you shortly afterwards and thanks you for following their orders. They give you an audio clip of Nancy's mother. Here at Giffnock, you can pick up shears to the right of the mailbox. You can zoom in on the door of the pub to pick up a menu. Leave Giffnock, and when Nancy returns to the train station, Alec has returned. After Alec returns from his search for Moira, talk to him. He tells you that she is in Beardsden. If you haven't done so already, buy a train ticket from the ticket window, then travel to Beardsden. Knock on Moira's door, and she refuses to exit, unless you get her some food. You can find this food at the convenience stand near Bridget. Leave Bearsden and exit the train station. Nancy's father will call her at this point. He is very upset with Nancy and scared for her. When you finish the phone call, go to the convenience stand. You want to buy all the food Moira asked for. If you went to Giffnock and got the menu from the pub, it can help you solve this challenge. The food Moira wants is smokies, neeps and tatties, cranachan and tablet. It costs eighteen pounds to purchase this food. If you need more money, you can make cookies here at the convenience stand. When you get all four food items, return to the Beardsden and knock on Moira's door. She invites Nancy inside and talks for a bit about Nancy's mother, before they are interrupted by unknown people. Moira commands Nancy to hide. Turn around and hide inside the closet to the right of the refrigerator. Moira tells Nancy to look under the teapot, which will lead her to a safe house. After this, the unknown people break into the house and kidnap Moira. Leave the closet and go to the cupboard near the TV. Under the teapot, you find the number 185 (or 164, if you're playing in Master Sleuth mode). Return to the closet, and open up the fuse box. Each fuse has a number attached to it. You want to flip fuses, so the total of all the fuses is the same as the number on the teapot. In amateur sleuth mode, one of the solutions is 85, 75, 10 and 15, which you get from flipping switches 1, 2, 3, and 7. In master sleuth mode, one of the solutions is 28, 33, -22, 43, 47 and 35, which you get from flipping switches 1, 2, 6, 7, 10 and 11. Solving the puzzle gets you a key for the safe house, which is labeled "Loch Lomond". You also find a locked box and a folder, full of letters from Nancy's mother. This folder contains the clues for two puzzles in the safe house. Before leaving Moira's, open the large dresser near the lamp and the sofa. You can get some clips here, which will allow you to tap someone's computer later on. Leave Bearsden, then go to Loch Lomond. When you do, Nancy has a flashback of her parents fighting. At Loch Lomond, you have two areas. On the right is the Brae Arena. Here, you can play an archery minigame. Get a high score, and you get your very own bow! This arena also has a bagpipe playing area. Look at the bagpipe to notice that it is missing a part. After you do this, you can find the missing part, available for purchase, at the train station's souvenir stand. On the left part of Loch Lomond is the safe house. Use the key to open it. It looks like a normal enough cabin. The final page in Moira's folder says to enter a specific date into the TV. On amateur sleuth mode, the date is 041320, and on master sleuth mode, it is 051707. This reveals some of the spy stuff in the room. Go to the computer area. Nancy's Cathedral contact, Ewan, calls her. He wants her to meet with him in Cathedral HQ. The card is in her safe, and the number to open the safe is her room number times the price of haggis. That would be 5 times 727, or 3635. On the computer, the only thing you can access are notes from Nancy's mother. The notes mention the Jabberwocky poem. You can call Nancy's boyfriend, Ned, at this point and ask him to get the specific copy of the Jabberwocky poem that Kate mentioned. Also in the safe house, there is an odd fireplace. Pick up the book near the television to see that the password for the fireplace. This password is "plastic" for amateur sleuths and "observant" for master sleuths. The second page of Moira's folder labels each fireplace stone with a letter. Spell out the password to find a locked safe. Shortly after you activate the machines in the safehouse, Moira sends you a message, saying that she returned home okay. Go to Bearsden to visit Moira. Ask her how Kate was involved with the Colony Operation and ask her if she has anything to help you. Moira will give you Kate's case book. The first page of the book has the clues needed to open the safe in Loch Lomond. When you leave Moira's, after getting Kate's case book, Nancy has a flashback of a discussion between her and her mother. Return to Loch Lomond and go to the safe in the fireplace. You need to follow the clues in Kate's book to figure out the code. Amateur sleuth solution: BEF JAC DHG 375 192 864 Master Sleuth solution: AJE CBD HFG 943 862 751 Opening the case gives you a bug and Kate's MP3 player. It also gives you Kate's fake journal, which you can read if you want to. This bug is for Alec. Go to Alec's location to see that he is gone. He left a blue piece of paper inside a plant. Read it to learn he has hidden something in his usual chair. Go to the chair to find a puzzle. With this puzzle, you want to rotate the discs so each one has the correct color. You solve this by clicking blue, center, blue, center, red, center, yellow, yellow, center, and center. There are multiple solutions, in case you're wondering. Solving the puzzle gives you a suspicious note. Is it to Alec or from Alec? Once that puzzle is done, you can leave the station and return to see Alec's bag. Put the bug (from the safe house) into Alec's bag. You can go to Loch Lomond and use the computer to listen in on what Alec has said. Return to Nancy's hotel room. Look at the outlet, to the right of the mirror. Plug the mp3 player in here, and Nancy says something is wrong with the outlet. Click on the outlet to find that the source of the problem is a bug, which self-destructs. After this, the mp3 player charges. Hit the play button to get the clue "follow the raven to the archives". Inside Nancy's closet, her suitcase has returned. Alec found and delivered the suitcase a while ago. When you open it, you find that some things are missing, specifically, the things belonging to Nancy's mother. According to Ewan, the passcode to the safe was 3635, so enter that to get the card inside. As you go to leave Nancy's room, she notices Bridget across the courtyard, checking her room for bugs. Why would Bridget be looking for electronic bugs? Go the elevator and use the card on the slot at the bottom of the floor buttons pad. A new button pops up. You can press the button to reach the Cathedral headquarters. Ewan welcomes you. Talk to Ewan about whatever you want. You need to ask him about Bridget. He gives you part of a zipline. If you got the bow from the training facility in Loch Lomond, Nancy combines these two items for a working zipline. Explore Cathedral Headquarters a bit. There is a locked case filled with spy gear and a computer archive. Some of the files are locked. If you've listened to the MP3 player, you can unlock the black files with the password "raven". One file is about breaking a code on a record. On the other side of Cathedral Headquarters, you can see the computer servers. They come with literal firewalls, as well as a temperature machine. Set off the machine by putting the temperature very high, or very low. Ewan will tell you more about the machine. When you leave Cathedral, Revenant calls with another test. They will play an audio clip of Kate Drew, if you cut the line of the trash compactor (in the train station) with the shears from Giffnock. You can ignore this, if you want. When you have the bow from the training facility and the zipline from Ewan, you can break into Bridget's room. First, go to Nancy's room. Look out the window and use the zipline. Aim for the center of the spinning disc. If you connect to the disc, Nancy will be able to zipline over to Bridget's room. You can look around Bridget's room. There are two important things to do here. First, look at the notepad by her bed. Second, check her phone. The notepad says that Bridget's password is the MacLorthen pattern. This pattern is listed in the book on tartans, from Moira's house. Unlock Bridget's phone by duplicating the tartan in the upper/right part of the screen. Different stripes overlap each other, so make sure to take that into account. When you unlock the phone, you learn that Bridget is getting a drop-off behind the words of Burns. Go to the front of the hotel, where Bridget is. Tell Bridget that there are spies inside her room, and she leaves. Then zoom in on the bench and use the screwdriver (from the window at Giffnock) to unscrew the plaque. A puzzle is here. You need to slide the canisters left and right. A canister can be up or down, and you can only rotate a canister which is inside the circular area. Amateur Sleuth Solution: If you label the canisters A B C D E, going from left to right, turn them in this order: 1. E C E D 2. E A E D 3. E C E D 4. E B E D 5. E C E D E Master Sleuth Solution: If you label the canisters A B C D E F G, going from left to right, turn them in this order: 1. G E G F 2. G C G F 3. G E G F 4. G D G F 5. G E G F 6. G A G F 7. G E G F 8. G D G F 9. G E G F 10. G C G F 11. G E G F 12. G D G F 13. G E G F 14. G B G F 15. G E G F 16. G D G F 17. G E G F 18. G C G F 19. G E G F 20. G D G F 21. G E G F G As you can hopefully see, moving the canisters follows a regular pattern. Solving the puzzle gives you the instructions for the drop-off. Put a blue bag with 35 pounds into the trash can. Go to the train station and purchase a bag from the souvenir area. It costs 12 pounds. If you do not have enough money, make cookies until you do. After dropping off the bag in the trash, confront Bridget about who she really is. She drops her fake Scottish accent and talks in her normal American voice. Then she leaves. Leave and return to the drop-off location to find a pair of spy glasses, for Zoe Wolfe. That is Bridget's real name. Go to Ewan and ask him about the spy glasses. He agrees to look into them. When you next leave the building, you see Zoe Wolfe. She talks with you, and she gives many warnings about the danger Nancy is in. Ignore them for now. Return to Ewan to get the spy glasses back. The next time you visit Cathedral, it is locked. Use the spy glasses on the elevator to get the password: 4 2 6 1 3 5. When you go inside, you see Zoe steal a container of spy bugs. You can now open the cabinet containing the spy gear. Do this by clicking on the wall panel, then clicking on the tiles which are next to tiles of the same color. In Amateur Sleuth mode, get rid of the blue tiles, the orange tiles and the yellow tiles. Get rid of the green tiles (two will be left over) and the pink tiles (two will be left over). From there, click on the matching tiles in the center until you're done. In Master Sleuth mode, get rid of the three orange groups on the left. Get rid of all the blue tiles, then the yellow group of two in the bottom/middle. That makes a red group that you want to get rid of, which makes a group of two pink tiles that you want to get rid of. Then, get rid of all the red groups, the pink groups, the yellow groups, the orange groups and the green groups. When you open the cabinet, you can get a cipher wheel and a drone bug. You can also look at Ewan's coin collection. The drone bug is perfect for spying on Zoe, so zipline to Zoe's room and put it with the flowers on her coffee table. Around this time, you get a call from Revenant. Their third test is for Nancy to bug Ewan's computer. It is necessary to complete this test. Go to Cathedral, and set off the temperature machine. Go towards the exit, and look at the left front bay (Bay 1). Hide in the little area on the right. After Ewan passes, go to his computer. Use the wires (from Moira's house) here, then use the spy glasses. This is a puzzle. Put all the wires on the board, while making sure none of them cross. In amateur sleuth mode, the entire left-hand-column is made up of pieces that go left and right. The right-hand side of the board is made up of pieces that go up and down, except for the circle and diamond in the upper/right. In master sleuth mode, all the pieces on the right side of the board are left and right pieces, except for a circle in the lower/right corner. The lower/left corner of the board is made up of up and down pieces, going on for seven columns. Head to Loch Lomond after this. Listen to the bug in Zoe's area to get a passphrase. Use the cipher on the cipher wheel for a puzzle. The clues are in Kate's notes and the archive. You want to overlap all the pieces you have to form a complete series of symbols, with no symbols repeating. The solution on both modes is this: WPAJ EZBF CIQB PZCL QRXT [row of various symbols] AZLS OHNS JQPD AEJC KDFN When you get them in place, rotate the pieces according to Kate's notes (that is, up by 8, 3, 6 4 and 7). Rotating the groups of four properly gets you the clue "music themes reveal ace". Call Carson Drew and ask him for the music theme belonging to Kate. Also in Loch Lomond, you want to check out the tap on Ewan's computer to see he sent a picture. Use the enhance feature on this computer and swap the tiles to form a complete picture of Kate Drew. The picture has a series of letters. Go to the training facility here in Loch Lomond. The bagpipes here need a chanter, which you can get from the souvenir stand at the train station. Put the chanter on the bagpipes and play the notes that were in Kate's picture. A book on bagpipes can be found in this area, if you need help. X = a hole that should be covered O = a hole that should be open G X XXX XXXX C X XXX XOOX E X XXO XXXO E X XXO XXXO B X XXX XXOO A X XXX XXXO D X XXX OOOX F X XOO XXXO a O OOX XXXO C X XXX XOOX Solving this puzzle gets you a record. Go to Moira's and play the record. It's the code for the Jabberwocky puzzle! You are able to solve this puzzle, once you listen to the record, read the file in the archives about the code, and receive a copy of Jabberwocky from Ned. It's a simple crypotgrams puzzle. Figure out what each letter stands for, and you get the message "type in caretakers at cabin computer for scientist's number". Sounds like a plan! Go to Loch Lomond and use the password "caretakers" for a phone number. Call it to warn the scientist. The next time Nancy heads to the hotel, Revenant calls. They recorded the entire conversation between Nancy and the scientist! After hearing Zoe's passphrase, return to her room. Put on the spy glasses, then look behind her painting. You want to press the symbols to spell out Zoe's passphrase. The book on Mary, Queen of Scots, explains what each symbol means. Some words will have to spelled out letter by letter. In Amateur Sleuth Mode, you press "from where I c o m e, there I g o". In Master Sleuth Mode, you press "this is the g a m e I a m in". Solving the puzzle opens Zoe's safe. Take the cards inside, as well as the coded paper. If you look at the passports, you'll see that one of Zoe's aliases is Samantha Quick, a person Nancy encountered in "The Phantom of Venice". To solve the coded paper, you must find the seven blue pieces hidden in Zoe's room. In amateur sleuth mode, they are on the bed by the lamp, by the coffee table's vase, under the rug, in the corner of the vanity mirror, behind the books, on the white tablecloth and on the seat of a chair at the white table. In master sleuth mode, the seven blue pieces are on top of the lamp by the picture, on top of the plant near the bathroom door, below the yellow container the phone rests on, on a yellow pillow on the couch, by the phone, on the wall left of the exit door (as you look at it) and on the upper hanging of the bed (as you look at the windows). When you have all the pieces, leave Zoe's room. Look at the coded paper in more detail. Put the pieces on the board to cover up every spot. Amateur Sleuth: ABBBCD AAABCD EEAHCD EFFHDD EFGHHH FFGGGH Master Sleuth: AAADDEEEE ABBCDDE F ABCCCDFFF GBBC HHFI GGGHHHIII G KKKKILL JJJJJKLLL Nancy gets a password from this. Go to the archives and use the password to unlock the red files. One says that the cards must be soaked in water in order to be opened. Go to Nancy's room and put the cards in water. When the cards are in Nancy's room, when she has asked Carson from the music theme, and after she has called the scientist, leave and return to Nancy's room. She gets attacked. Leave the elevator and go to the temperature controls to see that Ewan has also been attacked. Click on his mouth gag to untie him. Return to Nancy's room, and Carson's music sheet is on the door. Look in the room to see that the cards are stolen. Look at the window to see Alec's laser pointer. Pick it up, then go to Alec. Ask him about it, and he admits that he faked the robbery. He gives you a series of papers, which explains that he is being forced to work for Revenant, because they kidnapped his sister. The papers say the cards are in locker 36. Open it to get the cards. Go to Moira's and look at the area behind the circuit breaker. The box here can accept music notes. You want to press the highlighted notes, from the music sheet. The notes are in three groups, one for each member of the Drew family. Nancy's notes are E F G G F E F E D E, Carson's notes are G F D B G F D B A, and Kate's notes are D A A A E B B B B. Press the notes in the proper order to get the ace. Return to Nancy's room. Put the ace and the cards in the water. You have a jigsaw puzzle, where you must put the cards together. If two cards go next to each other, they snap into place. As you leave Nancy's room, the formula is stolen, twice. Nancy wakes up in a trash compactor, with a slider puzzle between her and freedom. In Amateur Sleuth mode, move the rightmost piece right, and the second-rightmost piece up once. Move the bottommost piece all the way to the right. Move the two big up-and- down pieces all the way down. Move the red piece all the way right. There are three small pieces near the red piece. Move them down, left and up, so you can move the red piece farther right. There is a left-and-right piece in the upper/right. Move it left once, which lets you move a piece up, which lets you move a piece right, which lets you move a piece down. Move the red piece right all the way. Move the middle up-and- down pieces up, then move the lower left-and-right pieces left. You can then move the rightmost pieces down, so you can move the red piece out the way. In Master Sleuth mode, move the topmost piece right, so you can move three up-and-down pieces up. There are two pieces in the second-from-top row in the upper/right; move the left one left and the right one right. Move the lower/right pieces all the way up, and move the two lower/right pieces right, so you can move a piece down. Now move the red piece right as far as it can go. Move the two pieces left of the red piece upwards. Move the lower/left piece left. Move the two bottom/right pieces left. Move the two rightmost pieces down. With the three up-and-down pieces at the top, move the third one down. Move the three pieces in the upper/right left into the gap, then move the rightmost piece up, so you can move the red piece out. Zoe gives Nancy some clips, so she can tap Ewan's computer again. Go to Cathedral and tap Ewan's computer. In amateur sleuth mode, only three pieces go left and right: a circle in the upper/left, a diamond in the lower/right and a diamond in the lower/left. In master sleuth mode, only four pieces go left and right: a diamond in the top row on the left, a circle in the second from top row, a diamond in the lower/right corner and a circle in the row above it. Go to Loch Lomond and see what the tap gave you. Ewan mentions a coin and locker 42. Go to Cathedral and take Ewan's coin, in the middle column, in the second-from- bottom row. Use this coin on locker 42 to find a hidden area. Here, you want to read everything. These include letters from Kate, and the culprit's transmissions. There is also a code for Ewan's temperature machine. Go to Cathedral. Use the code on the temperature machine in order to access it. The code is this: 2 43 1 5 Once the machine is set, hide in the spot near the exit door, like you did last time. Use the firewall controls to trap the culprit in B3. Nancy then gets instructions. She has to find a series of USB drives from different servers. Here is an overhead map of the servers: 3 2 4 1 5 In amateur sleuth mode, you visit servers 3, 4, 3, 1 and 5. In master sleuth mode, you visit servers 4, 3, 2, 5, 1 and 3. Now take the USBs to the door and put them on the board. Each group, row and column has no repeating colors. With this puzzle, you want to click on two small squares, then a medium rectangle, then a large square. This removes all four squares from the board. The caveat is that all consecutive pieces you touch must share a side. Amateur Sleuth: Lower case letters indicate small and medium pieces. Upper case letters indicate big squares.
