                              2.0 Intro
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-

There is a place in Asia that isn't on any map. It is called Tokyoto,
but
everyone just calls it Tokyo. The hottest things in Tokyoto are the
graffiti
crews (a.k.a. Ruddes) who ride on the newest inline skates (powered by
nitrium batteries) and express themselves through graffiti (illegal art
form;
don't try this at home kiddies) and Jet Set Radio, a pirated radio station
run by Professor K. But, all is not well for the Ruddes of Tokyoto; for, the
city has deployed a task force lead by Police Chief Onishima to end the
vandalism of the city.

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

Jet Set Radio is the station that all young hoods and punks listen
to in Tokyoto. It's transmitted from an unknown location. Ruling the
airwaves is Professor K (the DJ/VJ of Jet Set Radio). With his dreadlocks in
the air and his hand on the table, The Professor keeps the records spinning
tight throughout the game with an innovative mix of drum and bass,
Hip-Hop, Experimental Japanese Tech-no, Bubble Gum Tech-no and Rap to keep
you in the groove. Also, he gives us the 411 of what's going down in Tokyo
and a little bit of comic relief.

                             2.2 GG's
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

The GG's are a small, newly-formed group of Ruddes which maintain the
turf of Shibuya in the South of Tokyoto. Shibuya is the bright and sunny
district of Tokyoto. This is the group of Ruddes that you belong to.

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .
                          2.3 Poison Jam
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

Poison Jam, is another group of Ruddes that maintain the Turf of Kogane.
Kogane is the district of eternal sunset, right next to the shores. These
guys love monster movies and enjoy trashing up the walls of Tokyoto with
They're scary graffiti. They enjoy monster movies so much that they have
outfitted themselves to look like monsters (in outfits).

                         2.4 Noise Tanks
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

Noise Tanks are another group of Ruddes that maintain the turf of Benten
in the west of Tokyoto. This district seems to be drenched in everlasting
nightfall, filled with subway cars and nightlife. The Noise Tanks are a hi-
tech hard-core skating group. To pay for their expensive equipment, they run
an elite business of selling pirated computer software. And their graffiti
sends shock waves through all of Tokyoto.

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .
                           2.5 The Law
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

It seems that your quest to enlighten the city with your artwork hasn't
gone unnoticed. The city doesn't find it to be enlightening, but rather the
signs of urban decay. Along with Rokkoku a Corp conglomerate, the city has
formed a new police force to stop the local punks. This force is lead by
Police Chief Onishima, who is out to drag everyone of your butts to jail for
your crimes against his beloved city of Tokyoto. And he will do everything
in his power to do it, too!

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .
                     2.6 The Circle of Graffiti
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

I'm sure every one has heard of the circle of life? That everything,
is
predated apon by some thing else well here in Tokyoto isn't any different.
Instead of the Circle of Life, is the Circle of Graffiti... (and their ain't
no loins in this one). The GG's attack Noise Tanks and Poison Jam, but the
police attack the GG's and an unknown rudder gang attacks the GG's as well.
Noise Tanks attack the GG's, but are pursed by the law as well. Poison Jam
attacks the GG, but the law is after them as well. But outside of the
circle
sits the Corp Conglomerate, how do the play apart in this?

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .
                     2.7 Rokkoku
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

Rokkoku, help sponsor the police in their efforts to remove that has
infected the city. Little is known about what the Mega Corporation
(Rokkoku)
actually produces and why the are so dam interested on the state of affairs
with in the city and the rudders. Only time will tell!

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .
                       2.8 Rojii
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

Rojii, is the actual president of Rokkoku. With his Dark shade covering his
eye it is impossible to tell what the heck he's up too. Rumored, that he
also has a secret motive to get all 3 Rudder gangs in jail. What is he
after? Also word on the street is he has an elite gang of some type that
does all of dirty work for Rokkoku!

                            3.1 Tricks
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

Skating Backward:

This trick has a few way of being done. During the game, hit up-down-
down and you'll skate backwards. The other way is to get on a rail or any
hill that goes down and face the rising area - you'll start to slowly do
backwards, then when you get up speed, you can skate backwards:

360 +:

On the Half pipe, in many areas of the game you can spin tricks.
The tricks vary upon your speed and where you jump while riding on the pipe.
The highest spin trick I have done/seen is 1060-degree spin.

Back flip, Splits and other tricks:

These tricks are limited to the character that you have chosen to skate
with. Each character seem to have 3 tricks. I'll expand upon each
characters' trick in their introduction sections.

Hitching-a-Ride:

The streets of Tokyoto seam to be bustling with traffic, from cars to
buses to the mighty 16-wheeler trucks. But, what can a little rudder like
you
do? Play in traffic? Well it seems that you can ride these forms of
transportation in many ways. You can ride up behind any car or truck and
grab the bumper (just watch out and down get hit) and hitch a ride. To get
off, just jump or skate away from the car. You can also give yourself
a rest by skating head-on into car and jumping on top. You have to watch out
that the car doesn't take you out of the level.

Riding the Walls:

Not only can you ride the poles, cars and stairs, but you can ride the
wall. If you have good speed, jump against a wall and hit the R button.

Spider Man:

If you think it's cool that you can ride the walls you'll love bouncing
off of them. After you start to ride the wall, jump off of it. If another
wall is near that one, drift over to it. Then, you can grind against that
wall and jump off again. This is a lot of fun and a great way to earn
points!

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .
                            3.2 Grinding
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

You know, Grind is such an important part of the game. In fact, it's so
important that in the U.S. release they're calling the game Jet Grind Radio
(I like Jet Set Radio better, but oh well.). You can grind on almost
everything you see. To grind, just jump on the object you wish to grind on.
It's that simple!

Infinite Grinds:

Strapped for points to get JET?? Need a Challenging feat to, impress
your friends. This may just do it. It's called the "Infinite Grinds". An
infinite grind is a grind that can go on forever. It's unclear if all level
In the game have an infinite grind or not. Some are very easy and other
extremely hard. All Infinite grinds will be based on a 5 star system. 1
being
very easy and 5 being extremely hard. At the end of a level section if a
know infinite Grind exist it will be noted.

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .
                            3.3 Points
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

The point system for tricks will change, depending on what trick you do
and how many tricks you can do during a single grind session.

                             4.0 Screen/Gameplay
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-

During Gameplay you have a lot of information on your screen this
section
will help you out on what it what.

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .
                             4.1 Time
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

In the top right side of the screen you will see a set of numbers.
This
records your time, for every second that passes, it will decrease by one
number. When it reaches zero, you're out of time and will be returned to
the
GG's HQ. Also, each level will give you a different amount of time in order
to complete it. When you complete the level, the extra time you have left
will be turned into points and added to your score.

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .
                             4.2 Life
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

At the top left of you screen you're going to see a black bar filled
with orange; this is you life bar. Not all characters have the same life,
the orange represents the life you have. When the entire orange bar is gone
you lose and will be sent back to the GG's HQ. You can refill your life by
locating RED Spraypaint cans throughout the levels. Also, when the level is
completed, all of your remaining life will be converted into points and
added
to your score.

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .
                             4.3 Score
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

At the top left, under your life bar, you're going to see some
numbers.
These numbers are your score. Every time you grind, do a trick, or spray
some graffiti you will earn points that are add to your score. At the end
of
each level your score will determine what rating you receive for the level.

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .
                       4.4 Spraypaint Cans
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

At the bottom left of your screen, you should see an icon of a
spraycan(s). If you have less than 10 cans, an icon will be shown for each
can you have. But, if you have over 10 cans, you'll see an icon of a spray
paint can with a 5 on it and a number after it. This number will be how
many
cans you have. If you see nothing in the bottom left, that means you have
NO
CANS. Every time you do a spray paint move, your cans will decrease by one.
So, if you perfectly do a large tag you will lose three cans of paint. To
earn more paint, you will need to find more cans. Yellow cans will give you
one can and blue cans will give you five cans. At the end of each level all
your remaining cans will be converted into points and added to your score.

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .
                          4.5 Red Arrows
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

Throughout the levels you will see red arrows. These arrows are areas
that need to be tagged in order to complete the level. To spray paint(tag),
simply go up to the red arrow and hit the L button. If done right, you will
spray paint the tag or go into spray paint mode.

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .
                         4.6 Green Arrows
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

Sometimes in the game, you'll see a green arrow. These green arrows
are
areas that don't need to be spray painted. But, you will earn extra points
if
tagged.

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .
                        4.7 Orange Arrows
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

During Gameplay, you might see an orange arrow appear above your head.
This arrow is to let you know how to escape from the cops that may be on
your
tail. This arrow also might lead you out of the level at times, so use your
common sense.

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .
                         4.8 Cyan Arrows
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

During Gameplay, you will see cyan (blue) colored arrows appear when
being chased by the cops. This arrow tells you that this is an area where
the
cops can not get to an escape route.

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .
                         4.9 Katakana Red
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

Stop when you see a Red Japanese word pop up on your screen. It's
telling you that you're leaving the level.

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .
                         4.10 Tag Tokens
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

During the game, you will see 51 tag tokens (90 total). These tag
tokens
will be hidden throughout the level. You may have to do tricks in order to
get them. They look like little yellow things with keyboard-like mouths.

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .
                           4.11 Camera
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

The camera is kind of in your control. Any time you wish for the camera
to move behind you, hit the L button. Yes, the same button as spray paint.

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .
                        4.12 Balloon Talk
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

Throughout the game, all the members of the GG are going to talk to you
through balloons (just like the ones in the Sunday Comics). An exclamation
over you head means somebody is trying to hurt you (via gun or whatever).
When you're about to spray paint, a balloon will pop up telling you which
tag
you're going to use (this is so you can be sure you have all the spray paint
you need in order to complete the tag).

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

Throughout the level, you may see other icons that will represent
every thing from Police Chief Onishima to the members of Poison Jam. When

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

In later levels of the game you will have to race. At the start of the
race it will display a map. This map will show your goal (a single red
marker that you need to spray paint). More about this it the racing section.

Here is where our story really begins. Since you're going to start a

girl named Gum. In order for her to join your ranks you're going to have to
prove yourself in a contest (kinda like monkey see monkey do).

She looks like a reject from a Dr. Seuss book, but she is just
another one of the punk kids that live in Tokyoto. She wears a white dress,
with a green striped under shirt. On top of her head she wears a helmet,
maybe for protection from falls or for fashion purposes. On her hand she
wears a pair of white gloves to match her dress, and on her left arm she
wears a wrist radio (like Beat) that picks up the local radio station and
the
cops' radio signals.

Gum is going to direct you to go straight ahead, turn right (after the
car) and then go straight until you cross the street to a car and jump on
the car. Very Easy. If you need help, check out the diagram.

You pass Gam's first test, she has another easy one for you. You're going
to
have to do what she does, just like before. Go straight-ahead then turbo (R
button) and jump on to the rail. You then began to grin ride the rail to
the
end and then jump off!!! You have completed the test. One more too go. Is
this hard or what? If you need help check out the diagram.

The final test. Gum's going to show you her painting skills; do you think
you
can show her yours? (Another monkey see monkey do kinda thing). First off,
you're going to need to grab the 2 spray cans that are dead ahead of you and
spray the hoods of the 2 cars (L button). Then, grind on the rail that is
right beside you and pick up the next two cans. After this, ride over to
the
next rail, grind on it, and spray the car and the truck. Once you get off
the rail, it will be over, and Gum will join you. If you need help with
that
check out the diagram.

need
another member. Well, this is where Corn comes in. He's another one of the
local hoods. He wears a cyan jump suit from head to toe and a cyan beanie
sits on top of his head, preventing most people from seeing his eyes. Like
Beat, he has his name printed on the back to his clothing. (Kinda makes it
easy for the cops to ID you doesn't it?) He doesn't wear any gloves but you
can see his fingers popping out of his sleeves. Also, like Beat and Gum, he
has a wrist radio that picks up the local radio station and the cops' radio
signals. And, you're going to have to prove yourself in order for him to
join

Corn's first challenge will be to see if you can spray paint a big piece
of work. All you need to do here is stay on the platforms and get one of 6
cans of spray paint (5-can cans). So, skate forward and jump off of the
first
platform, then to the second, then to the third. Once on the third, make
sure you have at least 5 cans of paint. Hit the L button to go into paint
mode. You're going to paint Beat's large size tag.

Corn seems to be happy with your skills from the first test, here is his
next one. He grabs a car and rides up to the top of the hill. It doesn't
matter if you do or do not get to the top, grab at least one can of paint
then skate back down the way you came. Once you're back at the start you can
grind on the rail and spray paint the red arrow! It's that easy!

You did well on the last one I hope because here is the next one. Corn
has turned up the heat on this one. Like all the ones before it, this is
a monkey see monkey do kinda deal. You're going to need to get up to speed
using the Turbo button (R Button), then grind on the rail once you're near
the edge of the rail you going to need to jump off and over a box to the
next
rail. After this, you're need to jump off the right staircase rail and ride
it to the top. Stay on the rail until it begins to go down, then jump off to
the top of the Bus Station roof. Bingo-o, you did it! This may take a few
tries. You have a gang now! Let's go back to you HQ.

To get to Create-a-tag "Create Graffiti" mode, you're first going
to have to select Tag Options (it looks like the default mid-sized tag,
if you flip the GG's hideout you'll find it). Once you have found the
Tag options, select it; doing so will bring you to a new menu. The
first option in the menu is "List Graffiti" to see all the tags you
have collected, downloaded and created (we'll talk more about this
later on in Section 5), and the second option is Create Graffiti.

After selecting Create Graffiti mode you'll be prompted what size
you would like (example shown in the game is: Sample)

    From left to right:

    - Small (1 can of spray paint in the game)
    - Large (3-4 cans of spray paint in the game)
    - X-Large (5-9 cans of spray paint in the game)

Hit A button to select size

taken to a keyboard, (the diagram below shows you the order of the
keys and what they do) Here you can type out your tag and pick Paint
or Shape to modify the text; or Skip straight to Paint to make it from
scratch (Section 3). You'll be limited to 7 characters (Roman, Katakana
or both) on any of the 3 sizes.

So you want to be able to download JPGs from the Internet and use
them in JSR? Well I'm going to give you an overview of how to log-on,
and what you will need in order to use JSR browser.

Need:

Sega Dreamcast
Sega Dreamcast Modem (Japanese or US)
Phone cord
1 VMU/VMS (recommended having no blocks used)
1 controller (doh, don't for get it)
JSR GD-Rom
Webplanet v.1.0 or higher
ISP (if you don't have one go to Section 8.3.6a)

Optional:

Keyboard
Extra VMU/VMS

     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .
                        8.3.6a Setup ISP
     . .. - --ooO --=+O+o+O+o+O+o+O+o+=-- Ooo-- - .. .

If you haven't setup your Dreamcast to use the Internet yet your
Going to need to. (If you already did this skip to Section 6.b)

Q: Will my current ISP work?

A: You most likely be able to use your current ISP.

Q: I used K-mart's Blue Light Internet service will it work?

A: I don't know. I do know that the new NetZero (http://www.netzero.com)
and Freewwweb (http://www.freewwweb.com) do work. I use Freewwweb my
self.

Q: Ok, now how do I sign in my ISP?

A: Ok put your Webplanet browser in your DC. It may be on it's own disk or
a Demo disk. After it has loaded up, it will as you if you want to use
AT&T world net or Another ISP, selected another ISP. You're going to
need
to enter: Real name, User Login, Password, Dialup Number, DNS1, and DNS2
-
-
into the Basic information. In the Dial options your going to need to
fill in the following information --Area Code you are calling from, Long
Distance call prefix, Outside Dial prefix, Modem init:, Dial, Dial Area
code, Blind Dial. Then you can (if you want) enter your proxy information
   and Email information

After you are set up save your settings and see if you can log on with
WebPlanet. If you can Goto Section 8.3.6b, if not write to your ISP, or
try again.

Now go to the Doghouse in the GG's Hideout (this is the Internet
Option) If a black screen pop up full of Japanese and you get kicked back
to the Hideout, you haven't set up your ISP (Section 8.3.6a) or you don't
have that information on your VMU/VMS.

If you got in you'll be asked to save your game. Because you will
not be returning to the GG's Hideout when you're done. SO SAVE! After
saving another will pop up showing all the controller and VMU/VMS plugged
into the Dreamcast (Memory Card Management Screen). This screen is so you
can see how many blocks you have and what not.

After you exit the memory card management, you come to a window that is
a light blue back ground with 2 TV screen and a Dreamcast at the bottom.
You can click on the TVs to take you to that web site or...

connect to the internet. It is set on YES by Default. Then you'll
see a screen with a big green bouncing word... at the top it will
tell you the number you are dialing. If you connect you will hear
a trumpet sound, if you don't it will bring you back to the 2 TV

other to actually manage the memory cards. Most the menus are in English.
In the 2nd Menu, you can use the L and R button to toggle the information.
Copy will allow you to copy a save game from one VMU/VMS to another. Delete
will remove it from your VMU/VMU (there is no UN-delete!) It will as you if
"You are sure you want to delete this file" (the left is Yes, right is no)
after delete the file you will be sent to the VMS/VMU Selection Screen.
Load
is a special option that is very good in allowing you to view JPGs, GIFs,
BMPs, and other images in your browser. If the image(s) can be displayed in
your browser the load button will appear in the options.

Description:
I really don't think they should called them selves the "Love Shockers", I

Beside their fashion the Love Shockers seam to be on alittle the wimpy side,
being the characters in the game with the least amount of power/life, but on
the plus side they seam to have the highest technique!

You want to take out the hardest tags first. First, you're going to
need to collect some spray paint. The easiest place to get paint would be
to
the far left of the map, right by the two rails. The hardest tags are the
three buses (req. min of 12 cans). Also, by the bus, in the middle, you're
going to notice one of the Love Shockers finishing up a tag. Run into her
and
she will drop three cans of spray paint. After spraying the third bus, the
cops will arrive. Now you're going to want to take out the remaining tags
that are located on the street level. On the bottom of the map you will find
a car and a truck. Both must be spray painted. To the left of the last bus
(to the left of the map) you will see two cars that need to be spray painted
as well. The three remaining tags are located on the upper level. To get to
the upper level you can do it one of two ways. To the Far Top Left of the
map you will find a Dump Truck. You can use this as a ramp to get to the top
area. Or, to the Bottom left you will find a car right next to a truck, you
can jump from one to the other in order to get to the top. You will also
find another member of the Love Shockers. Like before, run into her and grab
the spray paint.

Here is a list of what will happen once you do a tag:

1st - Nothing
2nd - Police Report over Cop Radio
3rd - Police Arrive
4th - Police Report over Cop Radio
5th - Police Chief Arrives
6th => 9th Nothing
10th - Beat Level
New Types of Police:

Normal Police: These guys tend to travel in packs (usually 3). They carry
billy clubs in one hand. Once your in-range, they will try to club you with
their billies or grab onto your legs in order to slow you down. Also, at a
farther range they will try and jump at you in order to knock you down! When
the police officers latch onto you, you will unable to spray paint.

Police Chief Onishima: This guy is a cross between Dirty Harry and The Fonz.
But this no "Happy Days." This guy is going to lay you out to dry with his
huge magnum!!! You will also notice that he has a green arrow above
him. This means you can spray paint his back. The easiest way to do this is
to knock him down the quickly hit the L button right next to him. When he
is
tag he will be unable to attack you in his furious state.
(Also on the map the Police Chief will be represented by an icon of his
head)

Green Markers are extra marks that you can tag for points. At the bus
station level there is no permanent green marker. The only option tag would
be Police Chief Onishima's back. The easiest way to do this is to knock him
down the quickly hit the L button right next to him.

Map/Diagram For Tag Tokens:

http://www.usunion.net/jsr/map-1-1tt.jpg

Tag Token 11: "RYU" -- This token can be found on the upper platforms where
you must spray paint in order to finish the level. (difficulty: *)

Tag Token 15: "Window" (with a Dog in it) -- At the bus stop you're going to
spot a token tag sitting on a stop light rail. You're going to need to get
on
top of the Bus Cover and grind on the stop light rail then jump! This is
a lot harder than it sounds. (difficulty: ***)

Tag Token 41: "???" (in Japanese) -- Down at the bottom of the map where the
car and truck rest you will find a tag token. To get this, you're going to
have to grind on the rail (east to west). Make sure you have a good amount
of
speed. Once next to the truck, jump off onto the sign to your left, and grab
the tag token. (difficulty: **)

Tag Token 45: "Bouz" -- Two Tag tokens are hiding under the walkway at the
bus stop. You have to use a TRUCK, VAN or BUS in order to get them. Number
45
is located to the bottom right of the map under the first walkway where you
start the level. After you have found it, stake a good 30-10 sec (North on
the map) away from the tag (in the road)and wait for a truck/van/bus
(recommend truck). Once you spot a truck, speed head-on at it and jump on
top
(if it's a truck, jump onto the back). Once you're on, wait until you near
the token, then jump and get it. This may take a few tries. (difficulty: **)

Tag Token 71: "Crazy Crew" -- Two Tag tokens are hiding under the walkway at
the bus stop. You're going to have to use a TRUCK, VAN or BUS in order to
get
them. Number 71 is located to the bottom left of the map, under the last
part
of the walkway where you start the level. After you have found it, stake a
good 30-10 sec (West on the map) away from the tag (in the road) then wait
for a truck/van/bus (recommend truck). Once you spot a truck, speed head-on
at it and jump on top. (if it's a truck, jump onto the back) Once you're on,
wait until you near the token, then jump and get it. This may take a few
tries. (difficulty: **)

Strapped for points to get JET?? Need a Challenging feat to, impress
your friends. This may just do it. It's called the "Infinite Grinds". An
infinite grind is a grind that can go on forever. It's unclear if all level
In the game have an infinite grind or not. Some are very easy and other
extremely hard. All Infinite grinds will be based on a 5 star system. 1
being
very easy and 5 being extremely hard.

Around the Bus Stop (Map 1-1):

The main idea in Jet Set Radio is to get to know your environment.
Once
you have a feel for whereever thing is you can use it to you advantage.
This
Infinite Grind isn't for novice players it takes a lot practice, and will
earn you over 30 Combo each time around. If you can make it around three
times that is a 90-point combo. But be warned if you crash during the combo
you lose all your possible combo points.

First start off on the Top-Left of the map, right after the cones.
Then
skate forward towards the railing (w/ the truck and car). Then jump on to
the
railing, once on your going to want to jump again (re-landing on the rail
for
speed), then once your at the truck jump to you Left against the sign, and
then bounce off of it. (your going to need that lighting reflexes) The
glide
threw the air and land on the rail (on the far right), and on the rail ride
it till you come to the box. Then jump the box and land on the next
railing.
Once you reach the end of that railing then jump onto the Right Stair case
railing and ride it to the top. Once at the top, keep riding it (you should
lose some speed here, that's a good thing!!!) till then end then tap A, and
jump to the next railing (don't try to do a trick or you might end up on the
other staircase) then, keep repeating this till you reach the last staircase
railing. Once at the Last Staircase rail (4th) then ride down the right
rail, jump off half way, you should be able to reach the mini-billboard
(with
the F on it), grind against and the quickly bounce off and land on the
railing below. Once on the railing you have a few seconds till you have to
jump to the railing that you start at. If you don't have enough speed
you'll
be unable to make it. If you do, you have completed the ring, now repeat
everything above, and you got it!

After your first taste of the game I'm sure you're going to go right
back for more. But once you selected the map again, a guest arrives to
challenge you. His name is Combo (some call him Conbo... either way) He's a
big black dude that carries an old school Boom box on his shoulder. Around
his neck sits a HUGE golden Yen (It's all about the Yen baby!!!) and on his
left arm he has a tribe tattoo. He's gotten word on the street about you
guys and wants to see if you live up to it! If you do he may join you...

off
on a downhill slopes, use the R button and gain some speed then jump on the
rail to your left. once near the very end of the rail jump over into the
direction of the rail to you right. If done correctly you will land on the

Time: 700
Red Markers: 13
Green Markers: 5 (+1 Chief)
Tag Tokens: 7

You began the level in a sewage tunnel. I like to call it the half pipe
area. Here you will find a few cans of spray paint (4 by the long
staircase), also you will find five green tag markers. These are for extra
points. Skate North, to the far exit (a wide staircase with a gate at the
top), here you'll find the Police Chief waiting for you, quickly run into
him. Causing him to fall on his rump, the hit the L button and spray paint
him. This will give you 500 points, now quickly spray paint all 6 red
markers on the kiddy play ground. (also a Love Shocker is in the area run
into her to get a few extra cans). Once you get all 6 red tag markers the
ROIT SQUAD will arise on the scene. Watch out they are dispatched in three
area, to the south. You will see 2 red markers both are large tags, quickly
spray paint them and try to avoid the riot police. After that skate south
some more and the turn left -- you will find a bus blocking a tunnel with 7
Riot Police in the area, at the play ground you will see 3 offers standing
on
the slide and on the upper level to the West a few cop cars, a bus and 3
Riot
Police await you. Quickly go south, to where the 7 riot police are jump
over
the cop car to your right. You will find two red markers an X-large on and
a
large. Take out the Large one first, After completing both tags, turn
around so you not looking at the bus, but the broken road. Skate forward
and
jump off, you'll fall back to the half pipe. Then skate to the long
staircase. Once up, keep going north and you'll find one X-large tag.
Don't
worry about the 3 Riot cops they can't shoot at you when you're all the way
down by this tag. Then after completing the tag grab the 2 red health cans.
Then Skate forward toward the police car, jump of them and the head toward
the ledge. Instead of falling down like before jump and then grind against
the wall and jump again (off it) to the other side. Once you land you will
find 2 extra large red markers. Once you complete both you will have
finished the level.

Note1:

If you get the two red markers on the roadway before the Riot Police arrive
you will then be attacked by officers on motorcycles.

Note2:

I have found 2 glitches in this level. One is that if you spray the Police
Chief then leave the playground (or have a cut scene happened) he will be
revived some times with a green marker other times with out one. The other
this is that when you skating in the Half Pipe (tunnel) if you run to the
far
corner of the dips you can completely fall off the map... and endless pit of
doom!

1st => 3rd Nothing
4th - Police Report over Cop Radio (calling backup)
5th - Riot Squad arrives on the scene (13 Total)
6th => 12th Nothing
13th - Beat the Level

New Types of Police:

Riot Police: These guys tend to travel in packs just like the normal Police
(usually 3). They carry a huge Riot Shield in one hand and a crowd control
gun in the other. The guns are load with coughing gas, from a distance they
will attack you with the gas, causing you to grab your side and start into a
coughing frenzy. At this point they are going to try and run up to attack
you closer, whack you with their guns!

Chips: What Police force doesn't have chopper riding traffic cops? A few
spots in the level (before the Riot Police arrive) when your try and
complete
a tag these guys will charge. (In a groups three) You can avoid them by
quickly finishing the tag and running away or just canceling the tag and
running away.

In area 1-2, there are five permanent green markers. All five are located
in
the gutter are (looks like a long half pipe). All of them are the small size
tags (you only need 1 can for each), to get the skate up the sides of the
pipes and the jump. When you see a balloon pop up over your head hit the L
button. Also you can tag would be Police Chief Onishima's back. The easiest
way to do this is to knock him down the quickly hit the L button right next
to him. A Glitch is also in the game that ever time you leave the
Playground
area where the Chief is he'll become active again. Some times with a green
arrow and others times with out so watch out!

Map/Diagram For Tag Tokens:

http://www.usunion.net/jsr/jsr-map1-2.jpg

Tag Token 13: After you use the gated door to get out of the half pipe skate
forward past the Kiddy Park. You should come to a bridge, with riles on
each
side. Skate past the bridge then turn around. On the right side you'll see
a tag token. Skate forward towards the token then jump on the rile, once on
the rail then jump over onto the rooftop where the tag token is.
(difficulty: *)

Token 16: "???" A Tag Token is sitting above traffic, you going to have
to use a TRUCK in order to get it. First find the tag, no the one above the
highway sign the other one. Then stake about a good 60-30 sec. away from the
tag (in the road) then wait for a truck. Once you spot a truck you going to
have to speed head on at it then jump on the cab, then jump on to the back.
Once you on, wait till you near the token then jump off at it. This may take
a few times. (difficulty: ***)

Tag Token 43: "???" In the Kiddies park you'll see a token sitting above the
animal slide. You going to have to get some speed and grind up the edge of
the slide, if you have good speed you'll be able to jump of and get the Tag
Token. (difficulty: ***)

Tag Token 46: "???" This lovely token sit high above crane, you can get to
the crane area via the 'Kiddy Park' or the 'Pipe Line'. To get this token
you
going to need speed and lots of it. First go to the far back wall and the
start, getting up some speed and jump on to the guard rails, jump to the
next
guard rail and so on... once your on the last rail Jump off on the arm of
the
crane, then it will cut to a short video of you GRINDING up the crane, a the
end of the crane do a straight jump (you should do a little trick) and
you'll
grab the Tag Token. (difficulty: ****)

Tag Token 72: "???" Where the X-large 2-part tag is (after the crane jump)
you're going to have to slowly skate off the side. You should land on a
rooftop and find a tag token. (difficulty: *)

Tag Token 73: "???"under the crane is a highly hidden tag, your going to
have
to walk off the edge and fall into a gated area where the tag is hidden.
(difficulty: *)

Tag Token 75: This is a really hard one to get... So here is goes your going
to need spread, so use the rail post right next the Highway sign, wait for a
truck or bus to come. then speed down the rail jump off the bus the jump of
the side of the sign, then bingo you got it. This might take you a few days!

These guys look alittle weird. Each member of the team has a number on
their forehead, so they don't get mixed up with who is who! Along with
their
mask they have monster gloves and skates. What these guys lack is a good
suit, instead they wear dirty old, torn overalls. They have a lot of
strength and tend to love showing it!

Time: 600
Red Markers: 12
Green Markers:0 (+2 Police)
Tag Tokens: 8

You start the level in the center of the map right next to a flight of
stairs.
Walk up the stairs and grab all the cans on spay paint. Then skate forward
till you some to a turn. Follow the path until you arrive at a house to
your
left (it will be on the boardwalk). Enter the house and them skate forward,
don't worry about the wall it will just brake apart when you run into it.
After you have broken you way threw the house then follow the boardwalk.
Keep going forward and you'll find a staircase to you right. Go up the
staircase and you'll arrive on the upper level. Watch for the police cars
that
are patrolling the area looking for you.

There is a total of 12 Red Markers all are very easy to get, but my
recommendation is that you take out the large ones first. Once you get all
12
tags the level will be complete!

New Types of Police:

Police Dogs (K-9s): I mean what can get a pulse racing faster the cops
chasing you around ever corner? Police dogs chasing you around each corner.
When Police Chief Onishima arrives on the scene of your crime he brings long
the Departments K-9s. These dogs are going to grab on to you butt and bit!
So run!

Squad Cars: Nothing says loving like vehicular manslaughter, we that's
Tokyoto Police Department slogan anyways. When your spray painting your
marks
on the love walls of the harbor. You might have a cop car come and try to
run
you over. You can avoid this by quickly finishing the tag and running away
or
just canceling the tag and running away.

Police Helicopter: I wound how does the budgeting for the Tokyoto Police
Department? It seams that they have gone out and bought them selves a
Helicopter in order to stop your vandalism. Full equipped with heat seeking
missiles. Don't worry you can attack back! Notice the green arrow above
the
chopper, yeah this means you can spray paint it. Once spray painted the
Helicopter will plummet to the earth and BOOM!
(On the map the Police Chopper is displayed as an icon on a "Helicopter")

Tag Token 18: "???" In the same area where Token No.80 is there are tow
other
tokens. Skate down pass the opening to the sewers and jump on the bout your
going to notice a fallen construction rail in the water, jump on it. Try to
stay on it. You then come to a little island where a token (No.20) is
resting. Ok right next to this little island his another construction rail,
jump on it (your going to need some speed) and then follow it at the end of
the rail jump you should grab another token and land on the other boat... if
not you'll hit the water. And have to try again! (difficulty: ***)

Tag Token 20: "???" In the same area where Token No.80 is there are tow
other
tokens. Skate down pass the opening to the sewers and jump on the bout your
going to notice a fallen construction rail in the water, jump on it. Try to

Tag Token 22: "???" On the upper level of the Harbor (right side of the map)
you'll see a rile right between two house. If you ride this rile to the
top,
you'll find a tag token. (difficulty: *)

Tag Token 48: "???" Hidden in a House Token -- Wow, you know I found this
one
when I just looking around. When you're in the area with the Water Tower
(Harbor) your going to notice you can go in a few homes (3 I think). In one
of the home is Tag Token hiding. The home comes after the house that you
break threw the walls. Before the steps up to the water tower. Once to enter
the home, you'll need to turn around and hit the L button to fix the view.
And bingo, right next to the door is a hidden Tag Token. (difficulty: *)

Tag Token 51: On the upper level of the harbor (near the water towers)
you'll
find an alley being blocked off by boxed. Skate into the boxed and find a
tag token hiding out in the alley. (difficulty: *)

Tag Token 77: After getting threw the house with the breakaway walls you
going to see a tag token to your right. To get this token continue going
straight up the staircase once on top of the stair case ride the gate to the
bottom. Then jump off and grab the tag token. (difficulty: ***)

Tag Token 79: "???" Water Tower Token -- A Tag Token is hidden on the Water
Tower. To get this token grind on the rails next to the water tower and jump
on the Tower. Skate around to the backside of the tower and you'll find it.
(difficulty: **)

Tag Token 80: Jumping Token ??? -- Oh my, oh my, this is a pain in the butt
token to get. I used Gum to get this one. You going to have to, use a triple
jump to get it (Spider Man Trick). It's in the Water Tower Area, by the
water
(you'll see to boats on each side, and an exit into the sewers) and a Tag
hiding under a house/or shade thing. You going to need to skate down near
the
sewer opening. Then Turn around and stark getting speed, then jump on the
Left wall and you'll grab you skate, the drift threw the air to the right
wall and jump against it again, the jump and grab the token. I will take
some
time. (difficulty: *****)

a chain around his neck. He has no shirt, just a pair of skeleton gloves
and
camouflage shorts. He's down with joining you if you can match his skills!

You will begin this level at the top of a junkyard. It's fill with so much
junk! I guess that's why it's a junkyard. Your going to have to watch out
the Chief is already on the map. Your going to want to get some pray paint
the best place for this is Rokkoku Warehouse. You'll find a lot of spray
paint here. Once you get all the paint you can carry you going to have to
get the 2 X-large tags on top of the warehouse. So get out of the pit, and
skate around to the Top North side of the pit area (not in the pit around
it.. kinda confusing I know) You then going to need to jump off onto the
top of the warehouse. And get both Tags. Now get the Large tag at the very
top of the map. Once you have done this the paratroopers will have landed.
Quickly get all the reminding Small tags by the large you just got (to the
Northwest on the map). After the get the 2 small tag to the Mid-East of the
map. Now the 3 Helicopters will arrive. You will then need to jump back
into the junk pit. and get the large tag to the Southeast. There should
only be 3 small tags remaining... if you need you fill you your fill. And
then get the 3 small tags to the Southwest in the junk pit. To get them
you're going to need to jump against the wall, spray then jump of and drift
back and grind against the wall spray... jump off drift back and the grind
and spray again... Level completed!

Paratroopers: It seams like the Chief is pulling out all the stops in order
to bring you in to the Station. These guys will parachute out of the sky,
toting and M-16 in hand. They tend to travel in-groups of about 3 or more.
If the see you, the will charge at you in full force and unleash a storm of

Tag Token 17: "???" To get tag token 17 you can do it 2 ways. 1st., use the
top of the wall (short wall, near the crane) and grind on it at till you
reach the end then jump off and Grab the token. 2nd., way is to get a good
amount of speed and grind against the wall (near the tag token in question)
and jump of the wall and grab the token. (difficulty: **)

Tag Token 21: "???" In the Rokkoku Warehouse (underground area), is where
this tag token is hiding. To get it you must enter the warehouse the climb
the stair case to the very back. Once on the up, you then need to grind on
the rail... when you almost back to the front of the warehouse jump of too
another set of rail to you left (or right depending which staircase you
used)
you then end to jump up and grab the token... Tada! (difficulty: **)

Tag Token 50: "???" This tag token is sitting on a power line above the
junkyard pit. Just jump on that power line and you pick it up! Oh so easy!
(difficulty: *)

Tag Token 78: "???" Another easy tag, This tag token is on top of the
Rokkoku
Warehouse in between the 2 X-large Red Tag Markers.

                   14.0 Free-Skate (Jet Technique)
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-

This game is so great, most people want to replay every level at will.
And not have to go back threw the game. Sadly no level Selected is know of
(maybe with the Game Shark CD-X), but the next best thing would be Jet
Technique. I call it Free-skate. In free-skate mode your give 600-sec to
gain the highest score possible. When time runs out, the level is over and
your score will be given. The object is to try and get the score of JET or
beat your last score. (I believe they should have let you enter your
initials, so you can see who is better you or you friends (just like Crazy
Taxis)

Also bonus with the free skate levels, you can easily again all tag tokens,
by going around and focusing on them. All the tags that you gain will be
awarded to you once the time has run out. But after you finished the Free-
skate mode is sure to save at the GG's HQ, because it will not promoted you
to save, after completing it.

                       19.0 Infinite Grind
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-

(with
the F on it), grind against and the quickly bounce off and land on the
railing
below. Once on the railing you have a few seconds till you have to jump to
the
railing that you start at. If you don't have enough speed you'll be unable
to
make it. If you do, you have completed the ring, now repeat
everything above, and you got it!(difficulty: ****)

                         21.0 Rumors
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-

Q: I the US Version there will be an extra area?

A: As far as Sega/AM6 have said there will be an extra Area in "Jet Grind
Radio"

Q: I was told there is a "real" last boss in JET SET RADIO?

A: I have heard people talking about a version of the Corp guy being
possessed by a demon. These reports are all unconfirmed. I have the game
completed with the score of JET on every level, with all 90 Tag Tokens.

Q: In the US I hear the game will have a totally new sound track is this
true?

A: The game will not have a totally new sound track. Sega/AM6 have stated
on a few video game web sites (IGN, Videogames.com, Daily Radar) that they
will keep all the current music from the game in tacked - but for the new
area in Jet Set Grind they will be letting Rob Zombie and Jurassic 5 do the
music for that level.

Q: Is their a 4th area in Jet Set Radio? I hear that there is!

A: No, well not that any one knows of. A lot of people have been
commenting
how they think the orange mass at the bottom of the screen is another level.
This might be the US level or it could be the water, it's very unclear what
it is. But so far it's just a big orange blob at the bottom of the level
selected menu!

                         22.0 Q & A
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-

Q: What is the VM Game in JSR?

A: As far as I know the VMS/VMU game is used to exchange tags. You can
swap
them with a friend and input your email address into them (so people know
who
made it if you post it on the net.) But, I'm unsure of this since I don't
read Japanese either; I just have a good feeling. Also both my VMU/VMS's
batteries are dead so I haven't played around with it at all. I'll try to
get around to it once more information is added to the FAQ.

Q: Is there a Free-skate or training mode in JSR?

A: Yes there is a Free-skate mode also called Jet Tech. To unlock Free-
skate You're going to need to finish the Golden Rhino Levels. There is a
total of 3, on in each districted of Tokyo. If you beat the Shibuya Golden
Rhino's level you'll unlock the Shibuya "Jet Tech " mode. In this mode you
will have 600 sec to skate around freely, to try and gain the highest
points.
On the map it will look like purple Katakana (Japanese character).

Q: Can you play as Professor K in the game as a secret character?

A: Playing as the Professor K? As I sit and boot up the game for the
100th time this week I wonder what does his feet look like? Threw out the
whole game you never see the Professor shoe... or skates. It is unknown if
the Professor is a playable character I wouldn't count it out, but have seen
no evidence to prove he is. Here is to hoping!

Q: In Jet Set Radio somehow I turned off the sound of my guy(s) skating and
jumping. And I can't figure out how to get it back, if you could help?

A: To turn up the sound of the skates go to the map (hit the start button
while in game play) and go to the radio knob, and bring it down a bit you
should be able to hear your self skating now.

Q: I don't understand a word of japanese, I really didn't know how to
customize the tags and other stuff... even though I figured out how to make
tags. Do you know of any places on the web where I can download tags?

A: Well downloading tags can be done at many website threw out the Internet.
To download tags made with in Jet Set Radio the best places on the web are
The Official Jet Set Radio Homepage (http://jet.dricas.ne.jp/)
(http://jet.dricas.ne.jp/graffitilist_select.html) or Booyake.com
(http://www.booyaka.com/). To download save files you will either need an
internet connection on your Dreamcast or a Nexus or Innovation 4meg memory
card with PC parallel port. Another good Tag Place is
(http://i.am/hologram) this is a website/message board that allows you to
trade and post tags (JPG).
